Pardon Me. Have You Any Dostoevsky? is a charcoal portrait that will be exhibited at the SCORE office in the Sun Center (to the left of the Hippodrome) this Friday evening. Please join me for a reception from 7-10pm.
Although I love color, working in the monochromatic medium of charcoal best enables me to express the emotion and light I find so compelling in my subjects. When color is absent, we see things in a different context which creates the opportunity to make new discoveries. We develop a new appreciation for the nuances of tone and structure and can more readily appreciate subtle emotions. My realistically rendered portraits of people, places and objects, hopefully, provide unexpected, enriching and thought-provoking experiences.
