3rd Annual Florida Artists Juried Exhibition

Honored to share news that juror Ben Thompson, Curator for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville, selected Buy One Get One Free and Don't Ask Don't Tell for this year's exhibition.

At the opening reception on Friday, 7 January, I received the Award of Excellence (second place honors) for Buy One Get One Free. Don't Ask Don't Tell is featured on the exhibition poster (top row, center). There's still time to see the show before it closes on 3 February 2011. Additional details available in the SFC press release.

Obsession

Just in time for Valentines' Day! A little something that celebrates my love of baking and chocolate. Actually, you can have your cake and eat it too. One of the works that will be on display at GFAA's Making Your Mark exhibit at the Central Park Medical Plaza. Join us for the Chocolate! reception on 19 February from 5:30-7pm.

GFAA's 2010 Winter Members' Show

2nd Annual Florida Artists Juried Exhibition

The exhibition poster features some of the art juried into the show, including my charcoal Dancing in the Wind (lower right). Join us for the reception Friday, 8 January, 5-7pm!

Nuts!

This is the third and final piece I created for the Melrose Bay Invitational. Overall dimensions including mat and frame = 12 inches x 12 inches. Image measures 7 inches x 6 inches. First and foremost, the title refers to the coconuts. But, I must admit all that detail was making me a little crazy!

Nuts! and the following two pieces will be on display at Melrose Bay Art Gallery from 7 November - 20 December 2009. Please join us for a reception on Sunday, 8 November, from 1-5 pm.

What A Tangled Web We Weave II

What A Tangled Web We Weave sold before it left the easel! And, since I liked it so much, I decided to do a second version. While overall dimensions including mat and frame also = 12 inches x 12 inches, What A Tangled Web We Weave II measures 7 inches x 6.5 inches. Lots of subtle differences.

Zander

The second of the small works for the upcoming Melrose Bay Invitational. Overall dimensions including mat and frame = 12 inches x 12 inches. Image area measures 7 inches x 6.5 inches. Good things do come in small packages... Smaller portraits are more affordable and make wonderful gifts!

What A Tangled Web We Weave

The first of the small works I created for the Melrose Bay Invitational. Overall dimensions including mat and frame = 12 inches x 12 inches. Image itself measures 7 inches x 6 inches. Rather enjoying working small!

Melrose Bay Invitational

Small Works/Big Ideas/Thinking Inside the Box. I've accepted the invitation and started creating some new artwork for this exciting show. Since my finished pieces are generally not small, it's challenging to limit myself to a maximum of 144 square inches, including the frame. Even I will be interested to see what I come up with! At the Melrose Bay Art Gallery from 7 November - 20 December 2009. Please join us for a reception on Sunday, 8 November, from 1-5 pm.

Save The Date!

Juror Michael Burban awarded my charcoal portrait Growing Pains (see photo below) one of two Honorable Mentions at the 9th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition. The City of Gainesville will host an exhibit, Juror's Choice: 2009 Regional Award Winners, for the five award recipients at the Thomas Center's Main Gallery early next summer. Details to follow.

twentyfourseven

The birth of her first child was a life-changing event for a very dear friend -- as it is for all new mothers. A new focus, a new purpose and lots of new responsibilities and adjustments. The title pretty much sums it up. Wait 'til you see what becomes of that lonely little curl!
